Asif

Lets forget all the world's problem and send Asif to a neutral venue-- perhaps to Burkina Faso, Timbuktu, Ulan Bator or the most neutral of all places Switzerland :) You wonder what has taken the IPL to long to handle what I believe is an open and shut case? During the same time, Harbajjan has been suspended, recovered, danced, played matches and won and has started chirping again. Shree, the slapee has been on a mysterious injury sabbattical, only to arise for dancing, and some (un)neighbourly chit-chat. Usually, by this time, someone would have been suspended, written a book, reinstated and it would be time for the next offence. So IPL, don't lag behind --- and on a serious note, I hope there is zero tolerance drug policy and hold a video conference with Asif and get this resolved. This no action for 6 months sends out a very poor precedent.

RS,

There is nothing to be gained by resolving the Asif issue.

BCCI knows very well that Pakistan need Asif and hence they are in no hurry.

Just watch, Asif will become a bargaining chip and the matter will be buried claiming the samples were tainted or the technician failed to wash his hands or some such technical reason.:)

I agree 100% that zero tolerance is the best way to handle abuse of any kind.

Why can't be banned in the IPL and leave Pakistan to decide what to do otherwise.... I hate that they play politics with an important issue.

Looks like nobody wants him... that's why.

If nobody wants him, why not handle it fast - also this is internal to the IPL not really impacting PCB's decision...

Much had to do with his detention problems on that airport fiasco and he has been the one delaying it on grounds of time needed for defense and so-called terror threat in traveling to India.

But I must say the B-samples certainly took some time but am not equally aware of the time frame for the same.

Scorpi - No players should be allowed this much time for a defence - if you had a genuine reason, it could be stated immediately. Right now, they are perhaps trying to find some odd product that contains that substance which he took inadvertently?

Could be... but an important factor was the change in guard in Pakistan and hence it was in the backburner until they formed the new team.
