random thoughts

It will be odd to see a test match without Ganguly or Kumble. Kumble had one of the better voices in the cricketing world :) As there are already proposals of him being a spin coach, I think he should give match refereeing a shot as well.

But as I watched the lap of honour around the stadium - I was well and truly stunned when Dhoni lifted him on his shoulders. Prior to that when Dravid and Zaheer lifted him, I was impressed but atleast there were two people. Now Kumble is no Sivaramakrishan and they were not stationary either... Could anyone else have carried him singlehandedly from the team?

What is the secret of Dhoni's strength (not energy -- mind it!)

Wasn't there a rumor that he drinks tons of litres of milk? :)

on another note i think the guy (dhoni) do have keen sense of occasion and how to be the part of it...

it was just not the spur of moment thing...very well thought off act...

Dhoni must have been really happy that he finally got to be the captain.

a fan has got it right - it is milk.

BTW - I thought women swooned over Dravid's voice.

a fan: milk it is then :)

sp, a fan, trideep: he does seem to know how to play the media/occasion! I thought the coverage will be new captain bids adieu to old - but surprisingly the media remained focussed on Kumble.

ott: I have to listen to RD again :) RD rushes his speech - mumbles - so even if his voice is fine - the overall impact is not as nice I think as Kumble's "only one team played in the spirit of the game".

imagine if dravid had to say this after sydney :)

I rather see Kumble with his fabulous voice as a commentator, hopefully if he turns out good.

Now imagine if Dhoni turns out to be disastrous as a captain at the test level, it will sure ring out some laughs all over the world.

And Otts... it is not milk but Lakhmi rai... imagine loosing out to sreesanth... no wonder we won against the Aussies LOL.

Lakshmi Rai an interesting theory - BTW, what is Shree upto these days? genuine injury or looking for a career in filmdom?

RS, you speak your mind, no doubts about that.

That's why your write-ups never seem boring.

You replied to a comment, that Dhoni knows how to play with the media.

To me, he seems to go overboard sometimes.

@a bisht - thanks :) So far I like dhoni's street savviness - lets see how he handles things in the next few months...
