Dhoni's schedule

Wow! after wicket keeping in 4 test matches and captaining in 2, he now has to play 7 ODIs, captain, bat and keep as well - then participate in some Champions League matches (captain, bat and keep wickets there as well) and then go and play 2 test matches - captain, bat and keep again... And all of this is within the next 40 days. Except for 10 day break between a couple of tours, this continues until next July/August atleast.

Just thinking about it makes me exhausted. And he was limping, sniffing yesterday. I hope they give him a wicket keeping break in the middle and possibly rest him as well. But there does not appear to be an alternate wicketkeeper in the ODI squad?

RS,

This is your second post in as many days marveling Dhoni's stamina. What gives? :)

@ottayan: tsk, tsk - just want to make sure he has time to eat "chyawanprash" and recommend it to all of us :)

And for the record - I am an RD fan more than MSD :)

I did not think of RD at all when I wrote this - brilliant :)

I was thinking of DK or Patel and was worried!

well, i can only hope that he doesn't take Champions league lightly amidst this tight schedule and make parthiv patel do the wicket keeping :)

a fan: in the odd chance that CSK makes it to the final, he cannot play as the England test match starts the next day... so does not matter whether he takes it seriously or not...

rs - and an rd fan more than vm too?

I am not as staunch a supporter as vm- this is just relative preference :)

rs,

Dhoni has taken rest earlier on his own terms, namely in the SL tour. Its tough for him now that he is a captain in tests as well... But u never know..

trideep - as a captain he cannot takie off from a full series and to prevent him from getting injured or burnt out we do need alternate options. I am sure all the others will get rested for a match or two in between, just think Dhoni needs the same.

Outrageous! That's why i believe he may give up keeping in a couple of years. So the likes of Wridhiman Saha, Goswami, and also DK and Parthiv shouldn't lose hope.

sb: outrageous indeed,
everyone else will get rested during the course of these matches, and they should plan for him as well, so that he does not skip an entire series. He says he captains better when he sees things from a wicketkeeper's point of view, so I am not sure he will relinquish that.
